It's been too long....

I know, I have not posted in a very long time. After several "reminders" from Egan's Grandad, I am finally taking the time. We have had a very busy two months...Halloween, Egan's first trip to NYC, Thanksgiving, eating cereal, preparing for Christmas....oh, and Mommy going back to work.

Below are a few pictures that Egan wanted to share to catch everyone up!

I am not sure about this Halloween thing....first, Mommy made me dress up like a pumpkin and then Daddy took pictures of me! I didn't really like it! Maybe next year will be more fun?!

My First Trip to New York City!!!

In classic Torres fashion, we spent the day walking around, having lunch, then coffee, and then gathering for dinner. On this day, we spent most of the day with Aunt Serena and Uncle Martin and then had dinner with everyone at Aunt Fiona's.

Hanging out with Grandad!

And then it was time to go home. As you can see, no one wanted me to leave. The truth is, this scene happens a lot when I am with my family!

Here is another example of how much my family likes me.

While we were in NYC, Mommy and I had a "first" together! We went to the Today Show! No luck getting on TV, but it was still really fun!

Last week, I had cereal for the first time. I REALLY like it!

Here are a few pictures that Mommy thought should be included. She thinks I am really cute in these and thought you might also enjoy them.
I am getting really good at making bubbles!

I still REALLY like the bath tub!

And finally, this picture was just taken last night. I was laughing at Daddy instead of going to bed!

My Mommy is really sorry that it took so long to post more pictures. She promises to not let it take so long next time. Maybe weekly posts was too ambitious. Thanks Grandad for the "reminders"!

10 weeks old!!

Egan is 10 weeks old today! It is amazing to think that 10 weeks have gone by so far! He was at the doctor last week and is now 11 pounds, 15.5 ounces and 22.75 inches long. Below are a few pictures from our past couple of weeks. Enjoy!

This is Egan with his cousins Preston and Cora. Cora is 8 weeks older than Egan - they are sure to have a ton of fun together in the years to come! Preston will turn 5 this week - he is a preview of our future! :)

Egan had his first trip to my family's cabin this month. We have a tradition that every baby has to be bathed in the kitchen sink while they are there. I am pretty sure that a similar picture of me exists somewhere!

This was Egan and Daddy's first self portrait!

Egan playing in the cabin.

We went for a walk in the "woods". The trees were beautiful. We could not have picked a better weekend to be there. Egan and I were enjoying the creek while Daddy took pictures.

We had our first walk around Lake Williams this past Sunday. Egan really enjoyed looking at the trees.

This was our first family self portrait!

Finally, here are his pictures from the past few weeks. I can't seem to find week 8, but we have the others.

First Smile Captured!

Nick caught Egan smiling! This was the first time we were able to get it on film!

We went to Annapolis on Sunday and Egan had his first ride on a boat! We went out with Uncle Curt, Aunt Kathy, Amanda and Caroline for a quick ride. I think he fell asleep before we left the slip!

After our boat ride we spent some time at the SSA before heading home.

As promised here is Egan's 6 week photo. I included his week 4 picture again for comparison. It really is amazing how quickly he is growing!

Egan Matias Torres

Welcome to our blog! We are going to use this blog so that friends and family all over the world can watch Egan grow. The plan is to update the blog at least weekly with new and exciting things about Egan and our family. As life can get really busy we can not make any promises, but will do the best we can! Wish us luck!

Egan Matias arrived on Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at 1:13 PM. Egan means "small fiery one" which was a bit concerning for me -- particularly with his father's childhood -- but we decided to take our chances! :) Below are some pictures to catch everyone up on his life over the past several weeks!

Here we are on our way to the hospital!

Grandmothers were patiently waiting Egan's arrival!

After 4 hours of laboring, Egan arrived!

Granny having her first snuggle!

We made our way to the maternity unit and Daddy had his first talk with Egan. :-)

After a couple of days in the hospital we headed home.

Unfortunately our time at home was very brief. Egan had a fever of 102 within an hour of arriving home. As a result, we quickly returned to the hospital. We spent the next couple of days in the hospital to try to determine the cause of the fever. To this day, the reason is still unknown. Within 24 hours of being admitted his fever returned to normal and remained normal for another 24 hours. When we came home after this admission I told Egan we were not going to get in the habit of collecting wrist bands from the hospital! He must have been listening because we have not been back since! :-)

After we returned home for the second time Egan's guests started arriving. I am pretty sure his favorite guests were his cousins - Anna, Preston, Ty and Cora! Everyone, except Cora, has held him. Egan and Cora are eight weeks apart so Mamaw had to hold them both!

Egan's other favorite visitor was his friend Bodie!

We are trying to take pictures of Egan regularly on the same chair with the same teddy bear (lovingly given to him by his Auntie Jean and Uncle Donald). These next few are of him over the past few weeks.

It is amazing how quickly he is growing! His 6 week picture will be coming soon!

Finally, here are some other photos taken over the past couple of weeks. These were just too cute to not include!

Egan's showing off his muscles!

Egan's first bath! In this picture he looks a little uncertain, but he really loves bath time!

Giving kisses to his new monkey!

Reading with Mommy!

The sweater that Egan is wearing belonged to his Daddy when he was a baby. It has been the perfect sweater for the nice fall days we have been having lately!

Napping with Daddy!

Egan relaxing in his bath robe after a nice warm bath!

This is one of our most recent pictures of Egan. We had a "photo shoot" last weekend and this was one of my favorites!

I hope you enjoy these photos and updates of Egan. I do not expect that future entries will be this lengthy -- but who knows! Big hugs and kisses to all of you!
